The Maldives are known these days primarily for tourism at the beautiful resorts. Malé, the capital, is not a resort city, I would guess that the majority are there on business, while others are in transit or are adventurers. I had heard that the JEN is the best choice on Malé. and it is. Although it is JEN by Shangri-La, it is by no means the equivalent of a Shangri-La property. Still, it is good. The rooms are nice, even if not as large as the Manhattan Business Hotel, where I stayed previously. There is a good restaurant on the rooftop next to the pool. And the hotel is walking distance to jetties, including the one used for the shuttle boat for a day trip to the CROSSROADS Male resort. The JEN also scored points with me because if is only one of three or four properties where housekeeping celebrated my daughter's little stuffed monkey, which traveled with me.

The hotel is about 10 minutes from Male and is an excellent over night stop-over. The hotel staff support with our sea plane transfer and couldn’t do enough for us. The hotel provide early morning breakfast parcels for us all and ensured we were up on time the next day.

Stayed for one night as going to island resort next day. Very small rooms but I suppose that’s all you need as Male isn’t a place you would stay longer. It’s one of the better ones available as well. Breakfast was nice and the staff were very friendly. Special Thankyou to the gentleman who was at breakfast on the Monday as I asked for gluten free bread and he tried his utmost to find me some but there wasn’t any available. So in short if you need to stay overnight in Male this is your best option. They also pick you up from the airport free of charge which our travel agent failed to tell us so we paid.

The hotel is a little bit expensive but once you get past that it is wonderful. The reception staff are a delight to deal with - nothing is too much trouble. Just wonderful. Housekeeping are excellent - we had the same lads all week clean out room, friendly, honest, efficient - made for a most enjoyable staff

We visited the Azur restaurant on January 29, 2024, for dinner, and it was an amazing experience. The ambiance of the restaurant outside was nice, yet we chose to stay inside as we wanted to celebrate one of our friend's birthday. We made a reservation, so they reserved a place with table decorations. The food was yummy, and restaurant manager Chamara was very helpful and keen on details. Though the restaurant was quite busy, he managed to serve everyone well. After the dinner, they bought the cake, and it was yummy and nicely done. It was a great dining experience.
